Welcome to Reception!
What do Reception think about Ravensmere?
We asked the children in Reception to tell us what they thought about Ravensmere Infant School. This is what they had to say:
Super Me! - November 2022
The children in Reception have been learning all about how to look after themselves. They have learnt that it is important to get a good amount of sleep, eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and do lots of exercise. As part of this, they went on a walk to Lidl with a shopping list of items that they needed to buy. For each item they had to decide whether to place it in the healthy basket or the unhealthy basket. When they returned to school they tried the different foods and came up with words to describe the tastes and textures.
Hedgehog Cookies - November 2022
The children in Reception have been very busy baking lots of hedgehog cookies. We then sold the cookies to raise money to buy a UNICEF advent calendar.

We hope you enjoy the performance!

As part of this year's Christmas Tree Festival in Beccles, the children at Ravensmere read the story 'The Christmas Pine' by Julia Donaldson. They then reflected on the importance of family, friends and community at not only Christmas time, but all year round. They used lots of skills to make their Christmas tree shaped decorations and the little felt people to wrap around the tree.
The children then enjoyed a trip to Hungate Church to visit the Christmas Tree Festival and to see all of the other beautifully decorated trees.
Spot Bakes a Cake
The children have been reading 'Spot Bakes a Cake'. We made a bar chart to find out our favourite toppings, wrote shopping lists using our Phonic skills so we knew what to buy and then finally baked some cakes.
We've been thinking about animals that hibernate. We found out that hedgehogs hibernate and decided to have a go at making a home for them to do this!
Autumn - October 2021
We have been exploring all things autumnal this week. We have cut open a pumpkin to investigate what is inside, been on an autumn walk to collect treasures for our crowns and even had a go at some conker rolling art! When on our autumn walk we found a funny creature outside. We were so intrigued we googled it to find out more. It was a ladybird larvae!
